Civics

Civics is a survey course designed to expose each student to the basic organization and operation of government at the local, state, and national level. The purpose and forms of government are also covered in this course.

Geography
Prerequisites: None
Grades: 9
Length: Semester

This course surveys the importance of the study of geography, the different methods of study, the formation of land forms, the formation and prediction of weather, as well as a systematic examination of cultures around the world.

Ancient World History
Prerequisites: None
Grades: 10
Length: Semester

Ancient History covers relevant historical events, people and cultures beginning with creation of the world and ending with the Renaissance.  This course will focus on global development of all major civilizations throughout the various ages of world growth.  Lessons will reinforce map skills and knowledge of global geography.

United States History
Prerequisites: None
Grades: 11
Length: Full Year

United States History is a survey course of American history beginning with colonial times and culminating in an examination of contemporary history.  A close examination of current events will also take place.

Psychology I
Prerequisites: None
Grades: 11-12
Length: Semester

This course is designed to be an introduction to the science of understanding, explaining, and predicting human behavior.  Students will explore the history, scientific methods, and development of psychology.  Students will also have an opportunity to examine their own values and beliefs.

Modern World History
Prerequisites: None
Grades: 10
Length: Semester

Modern History covers relevant historical events, people and cultures beginning with the Renaissance and ending with current world issues.  This course will focus on global development of all major civilizations throughout the various ages of world growth.  Lessons will reinforce map skills and knowledge of global geography.

Economics
Prerequisites: None
Grades: 12
Length: Semester

Economics is designed to provide each student with the basic understanding of our currency system, the concepts relating to our free enterprise system, and the development of basic life skills as it relates to the financial well being of the individual, family, and business world.
